Biblegateway's Verse of The Day

Matthew 5:43-45

“[Love for Enemies] "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”
Deborah Cox, Kelly Price & Tamia Form New R&B Group: The Queen Project

Grammy Award winning R&B singers Tamia, Kelly Price & Deborah Cox have formed an R&B group with each other that they have named The Queen Project. The focus of this dynamic trio is not music alone but to bring more awareness, empathy and outreach for different causes.

One of their most passionate concerns and focus is health care coverage and ensuring that people regardless of economic background will be able to have access to the medical care and attention that they need.

During their filmed interview with Tracy Luv they ensured fans that their album project will have a blend of different music types from dance, ballads and more. LP: A Man "Like Paul"

While still a high school student not taking life too seriously, the Lord sent a total stranger to walk up to LP and his friend while they were walking around the local mall goofing around. The older woman whom neither of the two had previously met, spoke a word from God to the both of them telling LP that God would one day use him to do great things to the glory of God. Four years after the encounter, he would surrender his life to Christ after a conversation with a young woman who asked if she could have a moment of his time to share the gospel with him.

By 2003, LP found himself adamantly proclaiming to others the goodness of God which eventually would also lead to his realization that he would be able to glorify the Lord thru music and reach a massive amount of people from all around. Not only has LP been evangelizing and ministering thru music and speaking at various events and venues but he has been consumed by his passion for the youth and encouraging them to reach above and beyond.

The music video for LP's song about relationships entitled We Can't Lose crossed over into both the mainstream R&B and faith-based market industries being heavily rotated on network stations such as BET, MTV, TBN, The Word Network, Music Choice and many other broadcast & satellite networks across the country. The track is from off of his then debut album Testimony. LP has appeared on BET's Bobby Jones Show, was a past presenter for the 23rd Stellar Awards and recently became one of the lead hosts for a new music countdown show called the Breakthrough airing in Birmingham, AL.

Spotlight on Inspirational Rap Artist King Wes

A divine mission is what King Wes is on! Having had grown up in one of the worst housing projects in Birmingham, AL and witnessing many of his closest friends fall victim to the streets, King Wes knew that something had to be done.

King Wes did not immediately realize that his love for music, relationship with Christ and his background as a dope dealing, gang-banging thug would be the answer to many of the problems faced by his peers and the youth of today.

As a gospel rap artist with a hard core street delivery that brings forth realistic depictions of life, heartache, pain and struggles in low-income communities, King Wes also blends in the message of truth and victory through Jesus the Christ as warrior searching to bring lost souls into God's Kingdom.

With his non-traditional approach and no-holds bar delivery, he places emphasis on having a direct and true relationship with Jesus versus following man or man made traditions that may hinder or confuse one's personal growth, walk and relationship with the Lord. When you meet this passionate and on fire man of God in person, be prepared to receive the Kingdom of God! (Learn more about King Wes at www.myspace.com/kingwestha1)

Shei Atkins: R&B Legend In The Making

Shei Atkins is a native of Houston, TX who grew up in the historical and once flourishing predominantly African American community that in time transitioned into an impoverished urban community known as the "Four Four" (44 Acres Homes). Shei Atkins childhood was colorful, fun and filled with cherished memories as she came from a strong Christ fearing and musically inclined family. Shei can recall singing as far back as she could start speaking from imitating songs from the radio to eventually singing in her church choir as a child. At the age of 19, Shei Atkins would marry her childhood sweetheart, Drathoven, who is also her producer.

Although her first official start in the music industry was in 1997 with Houston based rapper Lil O, it was short lived, due to a series of unfortunate events including the death of Ann Tillman (co-founder of Destiny's Child) her musical trainer. Years later, Shei Atkins would sign with SoulMuzick Recordings headed by Crazy C & Madd Hatta of KBXX Radio where she first appeared on SoulMuZick Recordings 2003 compilation cd entitled Street Gospel Vol. 1.

With her unique and versatile urban style, Shei Atkins music continues to widen and grasp audiences of all ages in the R&B and faith-based music markets especially reaching young girls and women who can relate to her messages of self-esteem, self-worth, self-love, relationships, healing, faith and more. Shei Atkins discography includes her first debut album release Shei Atkins Life in Stereo (2004) followed by her sophmore album The Lita Mae Show (2006) and her third album project a 2-disc cd Girl Talk (2007).

During the release of Shei Atkins 3rd album Girl Talk, she toured with Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child in Europe, did a remix with Tank for his song Please Don't Go and had Lil Flip of Houston, TX as the guest rap artist on her track Trunk Bangin' from off of the album.

Rob Young: Never Left The Industry

Rob Young is a native of North Carolina who sings, writes and produces his own music, as well as, collaborates with other music industry professionals and artists. Although his first solo debut album is not slated to be released until the end of 2009, Rob Young is no stranger to the industry.

During his youth, he and a few close friends in high school, formed their own entertainment company which produced and released several albums and a short film. During this period in his early professional music career, he and his fellow group mates graced the stage with artists such as Ja Rule, Pastor Troy, Lost Boys and Fatman Scoop, as well as, being afforded the opportunity to work with Black Sheep’s Mista Launge.

Just as quickly as he and his friends were experiencing a rise in their careers, it suddenly ended when various members of the company and group decided to part ways. After this heavy heart breaking blow, Rob Young re-grouped and refocused on a plan of action for what he wanted to do most.

With his down to earth, feel good R&B music, Rob Young is surely going to be a much welcomed addition to the already popular lists of R&B artists who many listeners can relate and grow with.

Mary J. Blige Starts Career Foundation for Women

The queen of hip-hop soul is establishing a foundation to help women develop careers and gain self-confidence. Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute, who founded a youth-oriented brand consulting firm, say they're setting up the Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now. The foundation will concentrate first on the Yonkers, New York, area where the 37-year-old Blige grew up. The charity will fund scholarships, grants and programs that help women gain confidence and skills to succeed in their careers. Swizz Beatz Gag Order Doesn't Stop Wife Mashonda From Going Public With Open Letter to Alicia Keys

On May 21, 2009 BET Correspondent Anthony Springer, Jr. reported that the married Swizz Beatz went public with his relationship and affair with R&B singer Alicia Keys in Drake's remix for Best I Ever Had when Swizz spit the line "Wake up in the morning and my baby cooked me breakfast, A's naked wearing nothing on but a necklace." Which caused Swizz to be blasted by his wife Mashonda's attorney during the divorce proceedings.

Now fast forward to September 2009 and Mashonda who is also an R&B singer and still legally married to Swizz Beatz has gone public with an open letter to Alicia Keys saying that she was prompted to visit Alicia Key's twitter profile after the singer posted a tweet about debating someone in the studio about whether it is better to choose love that is smart or love that has sparks.

Mashonda ended her letter to Alicia Keys saying, "If its so, that you and my husband are meant to be together, then God bless you both and I hope you never have to deal with what I did. I would not wish it on my worst enemy. If you two being together forever is the case, its more of a reason for us to get along, because I'm not going anywhere. Theres a child to be raised. To answer your tweet, choose smart over spark. Sparks burn everyone, be smart! Its simple actually, just think of the shoe being on the other foot. Stay blessed and lets work this thing out with respect and dignity."
